Sculpture 21st: Rineke Dijkstra

Running time: 13 May to 28 August 2022

Dutch artist Rineke Dijkstra has become famous for her haunting photographic portraits of young adolescents. Her images appear honest and undisguised. Dijkstra searches for glimmers of individuality by concentrating on poses, expressions and subtle gestures. With the video work “Ruth Drawing Picasso”, the Lehmbruck Museum presents an iconic motif of absorption and concentration in the series “Sculpture 21st”. Monumental and touching at the same time, the quiet scene develops a stylistic power.
