The exhibition guides visitors through the central places and themes of Expressionism: the relationship to nature, the longing for freedom and human relationships. Free from academic tradition, the artists expressed their deepest feelings and experiences directly. Significant works of German Expressionism from the museum collection, including works by artists from the “Brücke” and the “Blaue Reiter”, show how important artistic collaboration was and is for the development of new forms of expression.
