Hans-Jürgen Vorsatz

For his 80th Birthday

Until 7  September 2025

On the occasion of his upcoming 80th birthday, Duisburg sculptor Hans-Jürgen Vorsatz (*1945) is being honoured with an exhibition of his work in the basement. Hans-Jürgen Vorsatz is one of Duisburg's most important sculptors. Over the past almost fifty years, he has created a remarkable oeuvre of sculptures, paintings and collages. His favourite materials are stone and metal, which he uses in his sometimes large and expansive sculptures.

With his works, he has made an important contribution to art in public spaces and to public commemoration of historically important events, for example in monuments such as ‘9 November 1989’ or ‘Honour to the Moor Soldiers: A Monument to the Resistance against Fascism’. The exhibition will present a selection of his works from all phases of his life and work.
